Watch: Super Bowl 2016 commercials leak for Pokemon, Doritos, Bud Light – SILive.com
STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. — The excitement for one of the Super Bowl’s most beloved components — the commercials — is already so heightened that there are advertisements for the advertisements.
Yes, even though the big game is two weeks away, there’s already a marketing war over whose commercial will be the most talked about.
Researchers with The Ace Metrix have looked at how well different Super Bowl advertisements perform, which may be reflected in this year’s contenders. Emotional or inspirational ads, like that one Budweiser ad with the horse and his dog friend, do really well. That explains why we’re seeing more emotional ads compared to humorous ads in recent years.
Surprisingly, thankfully, “sexy” ads like the ones Carl’s Jr. continue to spew out at us did pretty poorly, according to the ad-tracking firm.
And, ads with celebrities do pretty well, but not great, the firm found. Still, that doesn’t mean there won’t be any big names attached to the commercials this year: Like this teaser ad featuring superstar celebrities Amy Schumer and Seth Rogen hyping up some kind of Bud Light social media campaign.
There’s also this with comedian and “Silicon Valley” actor T.J. Miller in which he promises greatness from Shock Top.
But the very best commercial may have already aired. Pokemon’s 20th anniversary was celebrated with this advertisement, which will supposedly also air during the game. Here’s the inspirational hero of the Superbowl:
*Calls mom; asks where holographic charizard card is. Quits job. I knew it was my destiny. You’re my best friend in a world we must defend.*
