With over 108 million people tuning in, it’s no wonder that companies paid top dollar to have their advertisements featured during the big game. SuperBowl-Ads.com is an excellent website to visit to see all of the commercials that aired during the 2013 Super Bowl.
One of the most talked about ads during the 2013 Super Bowl was Budweiser’s “Brotherhood” commercial. The ad featured a Clydesdale horse being reunited with its trainer after a long separation and highlighted the emotional power of friendship and loyalty. The commercial was very brand aligned with Budweiser’s long-standing message of “Friends are Forever.”
In Tide’s “Miracle Stain” commercial, a San Francisco 49ers fan drops some salsa on his jersey in the shape of Joe Montana’s face. The so-dubbed “Montana Miracle Stain” becomes a sensation, appearing on talk shows and drawing crowds from all over the world. But at the end of the one-minute spot, the fan’s wife — a Baltimore Ravens diehard — “accidentally” washes the stain out with Tide. The tagline? “No stain is sacred.”
Taco Bell also had an ad that focused on their brand promise during the 2013 Super Bowl with their “Viva Young” commercial. The ad showed seniors sneaking out at night and having fun while living life to its fullest, which is something that Taco Bell wants customers to do when they eat their food.
Best Buy’s “Asking Amy” spot featured Parks and Recreation star Amy Poehler wandering around a Best Buy asking questions like, “What’s LTE? Is it contagious? Can I use a dongle with this? Does it make you uncomfortable when I use the word dongle? What makes a smart TV so smart? What’s the cloud? Where is the cloud? Will this [e-reader] read 50 Shades of Grey to me in a sexy voice? Will you?”
The ad for Oreo’s in the 2013 Super Bowl was “Whisper Fight.” This creative ad featured two people trying to out-whisper each other in order to win an Oreo cookie, which highlights Oreo’s fun and playful brand personality perfectly.
Overall, each company did an excellent job of promoting its products or services while staying true to its brand identity during the 2013 Super Bowl advertising period.
