10 must-see Super Bowl ads (videos) – Kitsap Sun
Football is good, and the half-time show is nice, but what would the Super Bowl be without the ads? Every year, advertisers roll out their best shots with all the slickest, craziest, most-catching commercials.
If you must know, and don’t already, Super Bowl 50 will begin at 3:25 p.m. Feb. 7 at Levi’s Staduium in Santa Clara, pitting the Carolina Panthers against the Denver Broncos. The half-time line-up features Coldplay, Beyonce and Bruno Mars.
Now, on to the ads, which already are being teased with snippets online. This a championship fight in its own right, with advertisers paying up to $4.5 million for a 30-second spot to reach 184 million viewers. No wonder some big-name stars are signing up.
Here are 10 you won’t want to miss.
1. Amy Schumer and Seth Rogen as beer bottle buddies for Budweiser dressing up for the political campaign. (Bud was widely declared the champ last year with its “Lost Dog” spot, with 30 million views on YouTube.)
2. Steven Tyler of Aerosmith rocks out for Skittles candy.
3. Snickers brings us a faux Marilyn Monroe who reprises the famous “Happy Birthday” serendade for the Super Bowl’s 50th, but in a register somewhat lower than her usual singing voice.
4. Kia’s ad stars the ever-creepy Christopher Walken, who startles a hapless husband dressing for dinner, by inviting him to the “Walken Closet.”
5. Scott Baio of “Happy Days” is expected to team up with Elmo of “Sesame Street” to promote Avocados from Mexico.
6. Alec Baldwin and Dan Marino plan an epic Super Bowl party, in Amazon’s first Super Bowl commercial.
7. “Train On” — an inspiring global montage about aspiring young champions with a powerful beat, building up to Pokemon’s version of the Super Bowl.
8. SoFi’s rolls around a busy city street moving in on joggers, shopper and others, while a smooth-voiced announcer tells us which of them is great and which is not. (Hint: The great ones get their loans through SoFi.)
9. LG Electronics also introduces its first Super Bowl ad, starring Liam Neeson as “The Man from the Future,” in what is made to look like a teaser for a new film.
10. Comedian T. J. Miller, who stars in the HBO series “Silicon Valley” as well as the upcoming “Deadpool” movie, stars in a new campaign for Shock Top beer.
