Budweiser reveals Super Bowl ad plans
For the upcoming Super Bowl, Anheuser-Busch InBev will recycle some successful plays from its past Big Game advertising.
The brewing giant’s Feb. 2 ads will feature celebrities, its iconic Clydesdale horses and a salute to military troops. It’ll have three minutes and 30-seconds of total ad time and will run commercials for its Bud Light and Budweiser brands.
One Bud Light ad will showcase A-B’s new re-closable aluminum bottle. The other two Bud Light ads are about an “epic night” and will have celebrity tie-ins.
A-B declined to say what celebrities would be involved or to give more creative details. In past Super Sunday advertising, the beer behemoth has featured famous folks such as rapper Jay-Z, former NFL coach Don Shula, comedian Will Ferrell and singer Stevie Wonder.
Those famous Clydesdale horses will show up in two Budweiser ads during this year’s game. One ad highlights the bond between a 10-week-old dog and a Clydesdale. That “puppy love”-themed commercial also stars actor Don Jeanes, who was cast as the trainer in a popular 2013 Super Bowl ad that showed the strong connection between a trainer and the horse he raised.
The other Budweiser ad will pay homage to returning military troops.
That ad is “particularly special because of the sheer number of troops coming home from Afghanistan,” says Budweiser Vice President Brian Perkins.
