Super Bowl Advertisers Scramble and Shift as Game Day Draws Near

Some players and positions in the advertising roster for the Super Bowl are changing quickly. Groupon has managed to grab a spot after another advertiser. Pizza Hut, backtracked after an announcement that it would advertise in the Super Bowl and has withdrawn from the game and is retreating instead to focus on pre-game activity.

Mars has shifted its ad for Snickers to the second quarter from the third after Fox came a-knocking with the chance to run a commercial before the halftime show. “We are moving the airtime of our Snickers Super Bowl spot to the second quarter of the game in order to capitalize on an opportunity presented to us by Fox.” said Debra A. Sandler, chief consumer officer at Mars Chocolate North America.
