The National Football League has turned down a Super Bowl commercial from the Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority.

League officials reviewed the commercial and determined that it “was not in our best interest,” said NFL spokesman Brian McCarthy.

He did not say why, but noted, “The NFL has a long-standing policy that prohibits the acceptance of any message that makes reference to or mention of sports betting.”

People familiar with the ad – a montage of images from around the city – said it contains no reference to gambling. The game will air Jan. 26 on ABC.
