NEW YORK — E*Trade and Pizza Hut Wednesday both announced new spots that will air during Super Bowl XXXVI on Sunday.
Menlo Park, Calif.-based E*Trade said that that as part of its broader Super Bowl advertising campaign, it will debut a new “Monkey” advertisement, from Goodby, Silverstein & Partners, San Francisco, for the third consecutive year. E*Trade also is sponsoring the halftime show.
“After two successful years with our ‘Monkey’ ads, we are excited to bring the chimp back to entertain nearly 1 billion Super Bowl viewers worldwide while also delivering our message of self-directed financial empowerment,” said Connie Dotson, E*Trade’s chief communications and knowledge officer.
Pizza Hut said that it will premiere an ad featuring comedian Tommy Davidson and the P’ZONE pizza/sandwich in the final commercial prior to the game. In the sports-themed spot, per BBDO, New York, Davidson distributes P’ZONE pizzas throughout a football stadium, but still finds time to lead cheerleaders in a chant of “Gimme a P!” In between sampling P’ZONE pizzas among hungry fans, Davidson delivers a parody of sports commentators by giving the P’ZONE play-by-play after a fan takes a bite.
Pizza Hut is supporting the P’ZONE national introduction with a $70 million marketing plan including point-of-purchase promotion, and national print and broadcast advertising, according to the company. The campaign broke nationally on Sunday.
