Expect a crowded field at the Super Bowl scrimmage line as ultra-expensive ad spots are being gobbled up by movie studios that want to promote their newest films. Rolling out 30-second trailers are: “Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone,” the hotly anticipated wizard-boy fantasy based on the popular book series; “The Mummy Returns,” starring Brendan Fraser as the dashing adventurer and a wrestler, the Rock, as the Scorpion King; “Hannibal,” in which Anthony Hopkins reprises his “The Silence of the Lambs” role as cannibalistic serial killer Hannibal Lecter; and “Jurassic Park 3,” the dino sci-fi action film.
“Tomb Raider,” starring Angelina Jolie as super-heroine Lara Croft, will debut its trailer in a pre-game commercial.
Super Bowl XXXV airs at 6:18 p.m. Jan. 28 on CBS and is expected to draw about 90 million viewers.
