Postings From Superbowl-ads.com Readers (part 1)

Your voting does not include the Smirnoff Ice Drink commercial — by far the best!!!! Third quarter, between “unbelievably lucky” and monster.com!

I laughed so hard at the Seagrams commercial. I am dumbstruck that you didnt even list it as a choice. In my eyes it was the best of the night

FAVORITE ad was Fergie’s (Schwab ad). I’m STILL laughing–and I couldn’t find it on your ballot.

The best SuperBowl ad without question that will not win was American Legacy Tobacco Settlement. In this ad, you were led to believe that a computer was talking, and had a powerful, set chilling surprise ending with a powerful testimonal and a clear message. But the underlying real message was that the gentleman who was effected by cigarette smoking may not even see any money from any settlement, or if he does, he may not live long enough to see any. Any ad with a surprise ending with a strong testimonial like that was a clear winner to me; also a good television commercial must have good audio of what the product is about, after all, TV is child of Radio. You must be able to close you eyes and still know what the ad is about.

The ad that will be most highly regarded will be EDS Squirrel ad, I felt it had best direction & cinematography for sure; ads these days get best attention are the most that look like a movie; however, most don’t know what product is being advertised, it wasn’t in my top 5.

The Waste of Money award? The last ad of the night, Target stores non-sense, with no audio recogition of what is being sold, also, there where other products being advertised in it that blurred it’s message–what ever it is.

I think the Bob Dole was great, also the squirrls (sp?) and of course the alien whassup. But the one that really made me laugh was that silly rabbit commercial – I just thought it was funny, silly but funny.

I believe that Cingular’s ad presenting Dan Keplinger/”King Gimp” was the best because it was both inspirational and, hopefully, will have people understand that behind the prefice “dis” is the word “Ability”.

Overall the level of humor in the 2001 ads has greatly improved.

The beer retailers rule once again. Budweiser showed much more variety this year and put together a great slate of ads. I really like the Alien “Whazzzzz up?” commercial!

The advertisers scored more than the ravens. Ray Lewis should be on the golf course with O.J.. Give Dennis Miller the boot from Monday Night Football.

Did I notice that the COKE machine was sold out? Hummmm Which one is the best seller? 🙂 Why is Pepsi going after the criminals of the world? As many prisoners as there are I am sure that there are more of us law abiding citizens on the outside that drink soft drinks every day? Do most convicts get a choice of colas?

Levis hit an all time low with their commercial today.

Your survey ommitted, or overlooked, the best ad of the Super Bowl. The ad for Smirnoff Vodka – with the bear and the guy squirting honey on his friend. This was great.

The anti-smoking ads are a nuisance – making “sympathy” ads that completely ignore personal responsibility are insulting. I am, and have always been a non-smoker; however, these ads are still very insulting. Consider, what was the guy with the wife who died at forty-six (46, 46 years old) doing when she was thirty-five? Was he telling her to quit or lighting her cigarettes for her? The old man in the hospital – what? Did he just realize cigarettes were/are bad for you when he “lost” his voice? No. He chose to smoke and fried his lungs and throat and now wants the world to feel sorry for his stupidity, while placing the blame/responsibility totally on someone else’s shoulders. He should have woke up a few years ago, when his throat first got scratchy, but he wouldn’t have been “cool” to quit then.

Wake up! To smoke is a choice, made by individuals – no one forces them to start smoking, and I don’t care if the tobacco companies taint the cigarettes, that first one is totally on you ( the individual )

Enough seriousness, the winning commercial should be the Vodka commercial with guy spraying his friend with honey to send the bear after him, but it won’t have a chance if it is not listed.
