MAYNARD, Mass. (BUSINESS WIRE) – Monster.com, the leading global careers Web site, today announced that for the second year in a row, it is on the road to the Super Bowl and will air two 30-second commercials, one each in the first and fourth quarters of the game. The spots are part of the company’s aggressive $60 million on- and off-line marketing campaign for 2000.
“We’re blazing a trail where dot.com companies have never gone before,” said Jeff Taylor, CEO of Monster.com. “Our second Super Bowl spots are just the start. We’re building on a monstrous branding year, continuing to advocate for job seekers’ career successes.”
Mullen Advertising of Wenham, Mass., creator of last year’s ad, has been retained to develop the new ads. Monster.com challenged millions of Super Bowl viewers last year by encouraging them to take stock of their careers with its “When I Grow up” spot. The ad features children musing about what they want to be ‘when they grow up.’ “I want to file all day,” says one child. “I want to claw my way up to middle management,” says another.
In the 24-hour period beginning Super Bowl Sunday last year and ending on Monday, February 1st, more than 2.2 million job searches were conducted on Monster.com, which was a 450 percent increase over a 24 hour time period two weeks prior to the game. Traffic to Monster.com has steadily increased from 4.7 million unique visits per month prior to last year’s Super Bowl to 9.7 million unique visits per month in August.
Super Bowl XXXIV will air January 30, 2000 on ABC Television from the Georgia Dome in Atlanta, Georgia.
