In May 1997, Gov. Ridge launched a new, first-ever initiative: the Pennsylvania Young Entrepreneurs Awards and Forum in conjunction with the 15th annual Inc. 500 conference in Philadelphia. Jeremy’s MicroBatch Ice Creams won “Best Business Venture: Under Two Years” and the $10,000 prize.

Entrants were asked to tell Mail Boxes Etc. in 25 words or less how their small businesses demonstrate the entrepreneurial spirit of small business in America and what they would say about their businesses to 130 million Super Bowl viewers. The office works to enhance the entrepreneurial vitality of the Commonwealth by offering technical assistance and services which encourage the creation, expansion and retention of successful small; women-owned; and minority-owned businesses. Jeremy’s MicroBatch Ice Creams currently are available in more than 3,200 stores in Pennsylvania, Denver, New England, New York and Florida. Jeremy’s MicroBatch Ice Creams will be available in an additional 5,000 stores in the spring 1999.
