Avocados From Mexico pulls plans for AI ChatGPT in 2023 Super Bowl Ad
Unfortunately, Avocados From Mexico has decided to not move forward with its plans to use generative AI in its 30-second spot during their 2023 Super Bowl commercial. Kinser noted that the company needed more time to ensure that the technology works as it should, and that the team had run out of time. The produce marketer had initially planned to include a QR code in its ad which would link to a landing page featuring ChatGPT, a popular generative AI tool.
The landing page would have included a button that users had to press to generate a tweet which would be fed into the AI tool. Then the bot’s response would appear as text on the landing page. Avocados From Mexico was also hoping to integrate Twitter’s API within the landing page to streamline tweeting, but Twitter has yet to grant approval.
Despite the plans for the Super Bowl, Avocados From Mexico’s VP of marketing and innovation, Ivonne Kinser, stated that the company needed more time to ensure the technology works properly and that the team had run out of time. The theme for the landing page was to be “Avocado Intelligence”, playing off of the recent interest in AI platforms such as ChatGPT and DALL-E 2.
